Type 1 Diabetes also known by the name juvenile diabetes is a form of Diabetes largely seen in children and adolescents below the age of 30. It comes to light in a slow progression though the damage in the pancreas may start earlier.Genetic reasons are found to be one of the major reasons for this form of diabetes.
As in other form of diabetes, the disease reveals itself through great thirst, repeated passage of urine, general weakness and loss of weight.
As this disease occurs mostly at a tender age their needs to be a lot of care and concern on the part of the guardians as the young ones lack accurate knowledge about the disease.the children in particular should be properly guidedinbibing in them a positive spirit to fight the dreaded disease.
Lack of proper and patient caring might result in kidney failure, blood clotting, swelling in the body ,etc.
Though no complete cure has been fond until now ,various measures taken can prevent type 1 diabetes from aggrevating. There needs to be a complete change in the life style patterns.proper diet including lots of fresh fruits and vegetables must be consumed.Emphasis mus be laid on daily exercise.Sedentry life style must not be followed at any cost.Particularl attention must be given in taking care of the feet.
No matter what the disease, our attitude towards life is all what matters.A life full of hope and joy will deenitely go a long way in keeping the disease from overtaking the life.

Pharmaceutical Companies Might Like Type 1 Diabetes

In 1990 a scientist working at Stanford University was able to completely cure type 1 Diabetes in mice using stem cells. Not using the controversial embryo stem cell research but using adult stem cells, but no one would pick it up for clinical trials. There are many of us who believe that the big pharmaceutical companies would rather you purchase insulin a couple of times of day, than be cured once. It just makes good business sense. A legal junkie who will return for a fix day after day for his “stuff”, and in the case of a diabetic it is for a lifetime.

Irving Weissman is that scientist and he is still a professor of pathology and developmental biology today at Stanford University. He has been right before. For instance 12 years ago he discovered a treatment for women with late stage breast cancer and it was ignored. He agrees that pharmaceutical companies would rather do good business than good health; and has spoken out against just those businesses.

Weissman was a guest speaker at Columbia University in a lecture series that is held specifically for religions about science. It is important to understand how stem cell research does not have to go against individuals moral beliefs. Perhaps with some renewed press Weissman can bring his cure for type 1 diabetes into reality. I know plenty of people, their families and perhaps even their insurance companies that would be glad to see science abolish another disease.
