Risks By Ethnicity

Unlike some things in this world that know no racial boundary this truth most certainly does not hold for illness and disease. Many illnesses are tied to genetics or tied to activities that are predominant in a given culture. For this reason you will most definitely see a higher incidence of certain conditions in a given culture. One such condition is definitely diabetes type 2. Diabetes symptoms can be very disruptive and if held untreated can lead to very serious consequences up to and including death. As such it is incredibly important that you realize if you have any prevalent risk factors and manage your diet and lifestyle appropriate. You may even want to read up on the diabetic diet so that you can avoid the types of food that may set off your condition. In particular you should be cautious if you are native American, Latino, African American or Japanese. Whites tend to have a lower incidence of Type 2 diabetes. This is also independent of your weight and so if you fall into one of these ethnic groups you should take extra precaution. You should also check your family history as family history can potentially have an enormous impact and may indicate that the genes associate with diabetes can be found in your family.

The most painful and depressing moment for a diabetes patient is when he or she has to take insulin injection. However there has been improvement in the injection and the pain has been tried to reduce as much as possible but there has been a major breakthrough in this regard recently. The bioengineers of the University of Calgary have achieved success in growing an insulin generating cell which when implanted in the body of the type 1 diabetes patient will work like the original one. Although the study is successfully completed but there are few steps remaining till the people will be able to take advantage of this achievement.

The researchers are now trying to find out the main cause behind diabetes type 1 because people suffering from this disease is increasing at an alarming rate worldwide and there has to be done something to put a check to it. Moreover the good news for now is that the diabetics are going to get rid of their multiple insulin injections with the help of these insulin generating cells that would be implanted in them. The diabetes treatment includes painful and daily injections and that too for the whole of life, which leads to depression in most of the patients. The diabetic has to remain on diabetes diet throughout their life and keep a check on their diabetes supplies always. However they will have to maintain their diabetes diet so that the blood sugar level is under control and there is no harm done to the internal organs of the body.
